Roy's Bookcase and Hidden Room
Off of Roy's bedroom was a rather large room with two large closets next to each other. Being that Roy is a committed bachelor, this was a space just crying for attention and something unique. We decided that a safe room would be the perfect idea.
For the entrance to this safe room I designed a Cherry cabinet with functioning doors and a drawer. For the pivot mechanism I took old Harley Davidson fork tubes to a machine shop where they made pivots to my specifications. After the cabinet was installed into the opening I designed a hidden latch that securely locks the cabinet in a closed position. When closed no light escapes the room. When the cabinet is opened it swings with minimal effort. A must have room for valuable items.

Mee's Fireplace Mantel
Lisa's fire place was a fun project and some what of a challenge. She wanted her television over the fire place, along with her VCR and DVD player. One of my concerns was the heat rising from the fireplace. To resolve this dilemma I designed a heat collection chamber. I ran an exhaust fan and duct work threw the mantel and up the left column which discharged the heat into the room and kept the components cool and also kept the paint from blistering.
There is a hidden panel that slides to the right to reveal the VCR and can be closed when not in use. One of my pet peeves is to utilize wasted space when applicable... as a result, both columns open for storage.
